Overview
This article explains the process for closing your SEEMail service under the TaaS framework, including responsibilities, timelines, billing considerations, and support options.
Cogito Group provides certificate (PKI) services only and does not operate SEEMail Gateway infrastructure. As a result, closure involves coordination between your organisation and your Gateway provider.
Before You Begin
Before initiating closure with Cogito, you must:
✅ Fully decommission your SEEMail Gateway
✅ Ensure all email traffic has stopped
✅ Confirm closure arrangements with your Gateway provider
Step 1: Decommission Your SEEMail Gateway
The shutdown of SEEMail services must be performed by your Gateway provider, not Cogito.
Approved Gateway Providers
- SSS
- Liverton
👉 You must contact your provider directly to:
- Schedule service retirement
- Complete gateway decommissioning
- Confirm that the service is no longer active
Step 2: Notify Cogito
Once your SEEMail Gateway has been decommissioned:
- Notify Cogito that your service has ceased
- Advance notification is optional but not required
👉 Cogito will only proceed with account closure after service cessation is confirmed
Step 3: Account Closure and Certificate Revocation
After receiving your notification, Cogito will:
- Revoke all SEEMail certificates
- Disable access to certificate services and directories
- Close your SEEMail account
Processing Time
- Up to 2 business days
Cost
- No charge for:
- Account closure
- Certificate revocation
Support Options (Optional)
In most cases, Cogito involvement is not required during closure.
If additional assistance is needed:
- Must be requested in advance
- Will be charged on a time and materials basis
Important
- Requests sent to the 24/7 support team will only be actioned if:
- Explicit approval for billable support is provided
Billing and Final Invoice
What to Expect
- Your final invoice is typically issued in the next billing cycle
- Timing depends on when closure occurs relative to billing cut-offs
Additional Billing Scenario
- If closure occurs within one week of the next billing cycle, you may receive:
- An additional invoice
Access to Jellyfish
If SEEMail is your only Cogito service:
- Access to Jellyfish will be removed upon account closure
- No further invoices will be issued after service termination
Security Considerations
- Revoking certificates after service cessation is standard practice
- There is no security impact provided:
- The SEEMail Gateway has already been decommissioned
Why This Is Safe
- Certificates are no longer in use once the service is stopped
- Revocation simply finalises the lifecycle and prevents future use
